| 1976 Phillies Fever - Cover Picture Sleeve |
This 7" vinyl single definitely has value as "just a record", but the real value is in the picture sleeve which features several stars from the Phillies. Both the front and back are cool display items for a collector of this era (or these players). A playing record with the well preserved picture sleeve will have considerably more value than one with a generic paper sleeve. I have seen a couple generic sleeve versions online for $10 or less over the past year, but have not seen any with the picture sleeve. This seems like a collectible better picked up at a flea market or yard sale than on eBay.
Label: Grand Prix

B Side: Dancin' with the Phillies (Instrumental version of the A-side, "Phillies Fever")

I aplogize for posting this here, but I could not find an email address. I am looking for a legit person to authenicate an autograph collection. The reason for this is I am looking to insure my collection, but I have no idea how much it is worth. Also, I do not care about the cost of the appraiser. I understand that it will be expensive because my collection is quite big.
ReplyDeleteIn brief terms, I have 5,000 to 6,000 baseball cards signed. The majority are from the N.L. from the decade of the 90's. I got every superstar that played in the N.L. during the 90's expect for Bonds, Sosa, and Pizzia. I do have a few A.L. players from that era such as Ripken, Clemens, and Nolan Ryan. Also, I have about 250 baseballs signed, roughly 50 of them are signed by HOFs on the sweetspot, and I have some teamballs such as the 93 Phillies and 90 Reds. Everything was aquired at The Vet (less than 1% of my colllection was aquired at an autograph signing or from the All Star Fan Fest in Philly for the 96 MLB All Star Game). Finally, I have about 75 to 100 canvsas boards signed by entire minor league teams from the mid to late 90's (These were aquired at either Wilimington or Trenton). Everything I have I aquired in person. I can explain everything if I talked to you on the phone (If I wrote everything, then it would be a book).
Furthermore, I have some music memborilla too. I have items signed by The Dave Matthews Band (Includes Leroi Moore who dided in 2008. I have seen some similar items on Ebay asking for $1,000 to $3,000), Rage Against the Machine, and Tool.
In summary, do you know of a legiate appraiser, or know someone who would know someone? If so, then please email me at jmccully61@yahoo.com, and I will give you my phone number so I can give you the details of my collection. I am not messing around, and I have tried to contact several people on the internet, but no one believes my collection.
I assume you are around Philly? We have one of the most legitimate autograph appraisers in the business not too far away, James Spence Associates. They used to be in Orwigsburg, just north of Reading, but I see from their website that they moved to Parsippany, NJ. Anyway, apparently they do "make housecalls". See: http://www.spenceloa.com/house_calls.asp It's not cheap, but really, I think if you ask around, you will find they are one of the most highly regarded authenticators.
ReplyDeleteThere are also some problem authenticators around as well. You should especially check the list on eBay for their list of certificates of authenticity that they will not allow you to use in your listings. eBay doesn't say why, presumably, so they don't get sued, but it's worth perusing the list:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/autographs.html
Click on the tab labeled: Certificates of Authenticity (COAs) and Letters of Authenticity (LOAs)
If you want to sell your autographs someday, keep in mind that you can't sell them on eBay if you choose one of these listed authenticators. (Or more precisely you can, but you cannot claim that you have a COA from any of these authenticators.)
